Go cycling to enjoy the stunning view of the Seto Inland Sea to the fullest!
Yashima is a peninsula protruding into the Seto Inland Sea. Prefectural Route 150, surrounded by the sea, is perfect for cycling. Linked with Prefectural Route 36, which circles the Aji Peninsula, this route is perfect for enjoying the beautiful landscape of the many islands on a bicycle! This page also points out attractive photo spots and popular restaurants along the route.

Cycle Train -- Bring your bicycle on board.
Kotoden Kawaramachi Station → Kotoden Fusazaki Station
On Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays, Kotoden Shido Line operates a service named Cycle Train, which allows you to bring your bicycle on board without a rinko bag. This permits you to travel to your destination quickly. It is also convenient when you want to go a little farther.
(This service may be unavailable during the Sanuki Takamatsu Festival or other events.)
How to enter the station
The entrance to the station on the Shido Line is located on the first floor on the east of the Kotoden Kawaramachi Building. A ramp allows smooth access to the ticket gate.
Buying a ticket
You can bring your bicycle for free. Purchasing a ticket to your destination is all you have to do.
How to get on the train
You can bring your bicycle only into cars with a CYCLE TRAIN mark. Note that passengers without bicycles will share the car with you.
Kotoden Fusazaki Station
Get off at Fusazaki Station, and you will see a tranquil landscape in front of you. The platform is linked directly to the road, allowing for an easy start to your cycling trip.
Take a photo with your bicycle on the platform to commemorate the trip!

Michi-no-Eki Genpei no Sato Mure
This roadside station has a souvenir section, offering a wide array of local Kagawa and Shikoku specialties. There is a restaurant here too that is popular because of its fish dishes prepared by local women. This facility also has restrooms and an information station, making it a perfect place for making preparations before you start. Stone sculptures are displayed on the premises because it is located in the Aji-stone excavation area.

Kaisen Shokudo Jakoya (a seafood restaurant)
This restaurant offers more than 60 different homemade dishes every day. Prepared by local women, the menu includes local specialty fish dishes, attracting many repeat customers who long for classic flavors.

Hamachi zuke don (a bowl of rice topped with marinated yellowtail sashimi)
Thick slices of yellowtail sashimi marinated in a special sauce. You cannot help but wildly shovel them into your mouth with rice. The Olive Yellowtail is used for this dish from the middle of September to the Middle of January.

Cycle Oasis
A Cycle Oasis is a rest station for cyclists equipped with toilets, bicycle stands, bicycle pumps, and other tools. Among the facilities along the route, Genpei no Sato Mure, Taikonohana Auto Camp site, Aji Kanko Butsuryukan, and Dannoura Marina are designated as Cycle Oases.

Aji Ryuozan Park Observation deck
True to the concept, “a park that makes you feel the landscape of Seto,” this park commands a panoramic view of the islands in the Seto Inland Sea. You can enjoy seeing and touching the sculptures, which are displayed in a way integrated with the landscape. The watch-shaped observation deck is a work of art from the Setouchi Triennale 2016. The watch face is designed to function as a sundial.

Takei Kan'on Cape (the northernmost point of Shikoku)
The northernmost point of Shikoku is the northern tip of the Aji Peninsula. Run down a sloping road from Prefectural Road 36, which runs around the Aji Peninsula. At the end of the road, you will find the stone monument indicating the northernmost point of Shikoku. In the back is Takei Kannon Temple, where IKOMA Chikamasa, who built Takamatsu Castle, and MATSUDAIRA Yorishige, the first lord of Takamatsu, are said to have enshrined Kannon Bosatsu (Avalokiteśvara) as the guardian god of Takamatsu Castle's demon's gate.

Junai no Seichi Aji: Kanko Koryukan
This building is reproduction of the set of the Amahira Photo Studio, which appeared in the 2004 film Crying Out Love in the Center of the World. The café in the building offers a unique menu, including Ishiusu Coffee, which uses coffee beans ground with a stone mill made of Aji-stone, and Yashima Curry, which expresses Yashima and the Genpei War. You should also see the filming locations nearby!

Tateishi Port
Tateishi Port in eastern Yashima is blessed with natural terrain. It has been used by a large number of ships since before the Meiji period (1868 to 1912). The Aji-stone quarry on the opposite shore creates an overwhelming view of the rough rock face.
This bakery's old-fashioned building is a renovated 80-year-old barn. The Danish pastries and Japanese white bread are recommended. The bakery always has ten different kinds of colorful Danish pastries with seasonal fruits on them. Many runners and cyclists are repeat customers, which also has bicycle racs.

Uro Coast
The Uro Coast on the west side of Yashima commands a panoramic view of Takamatsu Port on the opposite shore. At sunset, you can appreciate the beautiful contrast between the red sky and sea and the shadowy islands.
Why don't you celebrate the end of your ride with Udon noodles? While this restaurant boasts its homemade Sanuki Udon Noodles as its feature menu item, customers are also attracted to the unique foods on offer, including White Curry Udon, Zaru Ramen (dipping ramen noodles), and Mini Chashu-don (a small bowl of rice topped with pieces of chashu roast pork).

Kotoden Kasugagawa Station
When you have completed the cycling route through Aji and Yashima, you can either return to Kawaramachi on the Cycle Train from Kasugagawa Station or keep riding to the city center of Takamatsu. The distance to the city center is about 5 kilometers if you use Route 11.
